The night of the 27th we spent the night out on the town in the city of Byron Bay. We got into a couple clubs for free because it was my 21st birthday of course! I also got to dance on stage with a live band too! And.. they sung happy birthday for me! I felt pretty darn special! I went to Byron Bay with four other girls and we had a complete blast! Definitely one of my favorite memories yet, which is a good thing considering it WAS my 21st birthday. When I was still contemplating studying abroad here I was very hesitant about having to spend my big 2-1 here but I think it was perfect. I love the beach so why wouldn't I love it?? Even though I was legal here before! But I am definitely looking forward to seeing all my friends and family at home and being able to finally enjoy a drink at a restuarant or a bar.
The weather is starting to cool down a bit. As you all are moving into summer we are moving into "winter" here. This is definitely a winter that will not be hard for me to manage, that's for sure. I think it will average about 65 or so? yeah.. I am sure you all feeling so sorry for me. wink wink. Right now it is Autumn and it is perfect. It reminds me a lot of Minnesota summers and it is very comforting! A Minnesota summer that has a beach anyways ;-). The days are still warm, the sun is still hot beyond belief but the humidity is down, and the nights are nice and cool with a light breeze. Just perfect. It will be fun having a winter where everything is still green. I will let you all know what it is like. I am glad I brought a few sweatshirts here for when 'winter' arrives. After sweating heaps and heaps from the first couple of weeks I thought I was crazy for bringing anything warm!
Again, one adventure ends and another begins. I am unable to tell you about the adventure we were planning over my birthday weekend.. we are going to wait a couple more weeks but can't wait to tell you all about it! I want it to be a surprise. I am not really sure why but it is more exciting that way! Next week I am heading to Fraser Island for the whole week for our study week! I am not really sure why you would need two whole weeks off of class.. but hey, i'm not complaining! St. Cloud needs to take notes.
This may be the shortest blog yet.. I can't really think of any clever stories. All that I can conclude for you is that I love this place and I never want to leave. It's unfortunate that I have to go home and live "real life." :) haha. But.. that does not mean I do not miss you all back at home. I am actually thrilled and excited to see everyone! But.. for the time being I am going to enjoy this place and live it up. Thanks for reading! Also, Thank you for all the birthday wishes!! :-)
Cheers,
Brookie
